4 Drops, 1 Lesson: How CeeDee Lamb showed his accountability

Before we flip the script to Week 2 lets take a minute to praise CeeDee Lamb for how he responded following his four drops from last Thursday nights opener.
Lamb’s performance was front and center in the Cowboys’ 24–20 season-opening loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. The All-Pro wideout piled up seven receptions for 110 yards, but four costly drops, including a critical fourth-down miscue with just two minutes left, overshadowed his production.
It was a rare night of inconsistency from one of the NFL’s most reliable receivers, and it came at the worst possible time.
Head coach Brian Schottenheimer spoke on Lamb Friday, making it clear that while the mistakes hurt, he valued Lamb’s immediate ownership of them.
Schottenheimer: “At the end of the day, when we lose, I always go around, talk to the guys, and lift them up. No one felt worse than CeeDee did. You heard it in his postgame comments, he took accountability, just like we all should.”
Schottenheimer: “I’m always going to be the first one to stand up at the podium and say, ‘Hey, this is a team game, and when I make mistakes, I’ll take accountability.’ He did that.”
That accountability wasn’t just talk. Less than 24 hours later, Lamb was back on the field at The Star, catching passes on the jugs machine by himself. It was a moment that resonated with Schottenheimer and reinforced why Lamb is seen as one of the team’s leaders.
Schottenheimer: “Here’s what I love, even though I didn’t see it myself, I was told that around 1:30 this afternoon he was out here on the field, all by himself, catching balls. Does that surprise me? Absolutely not. That’s the kind of stuff that fires me up. That’s why he was voted captain, and that’s why he’s going to do great things for us throughout the rest of the year.”

The Texas Rangers finally turned all those nail-biting lessons into a statement win. This time, the late-game pressure didn’t break them, it fueled them. And with the victory, Texas is closing in fast on the Astros in the AL West race. Here is a recap from the DLLS Rangers Postgame.
