Could Jason Kidd be the next coach of the Knicks?

Also, the contract battle between Micah Parsons and the Cowboys takes another step.

👋 Hello, friends!

You’ll sense a hint of sarcasm here, but jerseygate has finally ended. We think. George Pickens is now GP3 after Dante Fowler switched from 3 to 13.

What might be nicer than that new number for Pickens? The play he made while wearing it yesterday.

One quick note before we dive in: I’m heading out on a camping trip tonight, so Bobby Karalla will have your newsletters the rest of the week and do an excellent job, as always.

Micah Parsons Speaks Out

We were waiting to enter the locker room yesterday to talk with players when Micah Parsons showed up yesterday. It was funny timing, because about half an hour earlier we talked with Stephen Jones about Parsons not being in attendance and where they were at with his negotiations.

After multiple questions and similar responses, Jones got a little thorny about questions about Parsons. He said he would end the impromptu press briefing if we asked another question about Parsons.

Then he showed up.

It could be a preview of the next stage in the offseason. Parsons said he plans to be at mandatory minicamp on Tuesday. Whether he practices or not remains to be seen, but his attendance will continue to keep his lingering contract situation in the headlines.

Micah said the ball is in Jerry Jones' court.

Regardless if he shows or not, Parsons has impressed Brian Schottenheimer with the way he's stayed connected to the team.

  • “Being present doesn’t necessarily mean being here all the time,” Schottenheimer said. “Doesn’t even necessarily mean having to practice. It means being present, being around the guys. We all don’t see the things that some of these guys do away from here. There’s a lot of work being done away from here, whether it’s with other players in the NFL, our guys and things like that. The thing that I know about Micah is Micah wants to be here. He’s excited about what we’re building. He’s been a big proponent of that. You can lead a lot of different ways. This is a business. And they’re working through the business part of this deal. Everything I’ve asked him to do, no different than everybody that’s here, he’s been great. That gets me excited. I’m a big fan of Micah.”
