NFL cutdown is in the books, and the Cowboys locked in their initial 53-man roster as the clock struck 3 p.m. CT. Dallas had to make tough choices to get down to 53 players, with some fan favorite names surviving the cut and others left on the outside looking in. The roster is set, for now, but the moves tell us a lot about how the team is preparing for the 2025 season.

One of the biggest questions hanging over the roster is Micah Parsons. Will he be ready for Week 1 against the Eagles? His status loomed large over Dallas’ decision-making, forcing the front office and coaching staff to weigh depth at multiple positions. The Cowboys may have tipped their hand with how they built the defense around him.

Of course, roster cutdowns aren’t just about who made it—they’re about who didn’t. Injured reserve designations, trades, and a handful of veteran releases all shaped the final 53.
