What we learned at Mavericks media day

Anthony Davis turned heads at Mavericks media day, and not just because of his health update.

After undergoing surgery this summer to repair a detached retina, the All-Star big man revealed doctors have mandated he’ll wear protective goggles “for the rest of his career.”

Davis admitted he’s not thrilled about the look, but it’s the price of staying on the floor after years of eye issues.

From there, the spotlight shifted to Kyrie Irving, who insisted he’s “right on schedule” in his ACL recovery but refused to give a hard return date.

Jason Kidd cautioned against fans saying Kyrie is “ahead of schedule,” though Irving himself laughed about the whole exchange. His message was simple: don’t set deadlines, just expect him to come back better.

And if that wasn’t enough, Dereck Lively II added a surprise of his own, saying he might actually be 7-foot-3 now.

Between Davis’ new eyewear, Irving’s steady approach, and Lively’s growth spurt, Dallas media day had no shortage of headlines, with teammates like Klay Thompson boldly declaring, “Once we get Kyrie back, I don’t see why we can’t win the whole thing.”

So we ask you to think. What’s a tie?

The Cowboys didn’t win, but they also didn’t lose, instead, they walked away from Sunday night’s 40-40 shootout with the Packers in their first tie since 1969.

Dak Prescott and the offense proved they can hang with one of the NFL’s top defenses, but the result still leaves plenty of questions.

Is a tie a step forward, or just another missed opportunity for Dallas?

Jamie Benn is out with a collapsed lung, and the Dallas Stars captain could be sidelined longer than a month, a crushing blow right before opening night. 🚨

With Benn down, roster spots are suddenly up for grabs, and the battle is heating up between young prospects and veterans fighting to stick. 👀

Plus, the NHL dropped its Top 50 list, and Dallas got some serious love, but is Mikko Rantanen ready to hit 100 points in Victory Green? 🔥

Another accolade to add to the Paige.
