Dallas Wings fire Chris Koclanes after just one season — What went wrong?
The Dallas Wings announced yesterday that first-year head coach Chris Koclanes will not return next season, ending his tenure after just one year.
The move came after a disappointing 10-34 campaign in which the Wings posted the league’s worst records and failed to show the progress many expected from a roster bolstered by new talent, notably rookie standout Paige Bueckers.
With the organization at a pivotal crossroads, the pressure is now on the front office to get the next hire right as the team looks to maximize its young core.

Koclanes’ season was marred by a mix of poor results and growing criticism. Fans and analysts alike questioned his rotations and strategy, pointing to inconsistent frontcourt usage, an over-reliance on certain players, and a defensive system that left the team exposed when guards struggled to contain opposing ball-handlers.
Beyond the X’s and O’s, Koclanes also drew backlash for his blunt communication style, including publicly calling out his guards for “getting beat off the bounce.”
For some, those comments crossed the line into throwing players under the bus, fueling doubts about his relationships inside the locker room and his ability to build the right culture.
Ultimately, expectations and reality never aligned. A roster featuring fresh star power and returning talent was supposed to trend upward, but instead fan confidence dwindled as the season dragged on. By the end, the optics of a quick coaching change reflected both the urgency of the franchise and the instability of its leadership structure.
Now, the focus shifts to who will take the reins, and the list of potential replacements is already growing as Dallas eyes a chance to reset ahead of a make-or-break offseason.

Bruce Bochy is also out in Texas, just two years after delivering the Rangers their first World Series title.
The news comes on the heels of a disappointing 2025 season that fell short of postseason expectations, with Bochy and the front office agreeing it was time for a new voice. But with the San Francisco Giants suddenly having a managerial vacancy, the speculation around Bochy’s future is already exploding.
Could the Hall of Famer really return to the franchise where he won three rings, or is this the end of the road for the 70-year-old skipper?

The Dallas Mavericks are back on the floor with the team’s first practice of the season in Vancouver. The sight of Kyrie moving smoothly had fans buzzing, and teammates locked in, as the Mavs set the tone for camp.
However, it wasn’t just about Kyrie: rookie phenom Cooper Flagg suited up for the first time, giving Dallas a glimpse of the future.
Our own Kevin Gray was on the scene, and trust us, you’ll want to hear everything they saw.

Tyler Seguin lit up the preseason with three points while Wyatt Johnston kept the fireworks going in the Stars’ 5-3 win over the Blues.
Jason Robertson, Radek Faksa, and Ilya Lyubushkin also buried goals as Dallas’ depth flexed its muscles. Want the full breakdown, hot takes, and super chat reactions?the DLLS Stars got you covered!

George Pickens was supposed to just fill in while CeeDee Lamb sat with an ankle injury, instead, he went off and made a statement.
Eight catches, 134 yards, two touchdowns, and countless big moments later, it’s fair to ask: did Pickens just plant his flag as the Cowboys’ new WR1? In a wild 40-40 tie with the Packers, Dak Prescott kept feeding him, and Pickens delivered against one of the league’s toughest defenses.
Cowboys fans, this could be the beginning of something huge. Pickens didn’t just step up, he tote that thang in prime time, showing Dallas might have more than one star at wideout when Lamb returns. WR1 talk? It’s not crazy anymore.
