Crushing ending, late offensive foul dooms Mavs in nail-biter
The Dallas Mavericks dropped a close one on Wednesday night, falling 113–111 to the New York Knicks in a game that felt like chaos wrapped inside a highlight reel.
Naji Marshall and Brandon Williams, whose pregame warmups usually feature friendly competitions and jokes, turned that chemistry into real production, connecting on a key fast-break bucket that electrified the AAC.
In the final minutes, Knicks guard Landry Shamet buried two dagger threes, and despite New York bricking a pile of free throws late, Dallas just couldn’t seize the opening.
For once, the Mavericks actually won the 3-point math battle, drilling 16-of-44 from deep thanks to big nights from D’Angelo Russell, Klay Thompson, Max Christie and a scorching-hot first half from Marshall.
Marshall kept Dallas alive early with 19 of his 23 points before halftime, buying the offense time until Russell caught fire. Russell answered with 18 of his 23 in the second half, including four threes that nearly dragged the Mavs across the finish line.
All that shooting wasn’t enough to survive the final possession, where Williams drew an offensive foul with 0.7 seconds left on what almost became a game-tying layup, the final gut punch in a night where the Mavs battled, entertained, and still walked away empty-handed.
Dallas now turns the page quickly with the New Orleans Pelicans coming to town Friday night.

On yesterday’s WHITE BOARD WEDNESDAY, we gave our predictions as to how many more games the Cowboys can win this season.
The room was split but if you want to know then re-watch Wednesday’s DLLS Cowboys pod.
Also if you don’t click that link to yesterday’s episode the Cowboys will fall to the Eagles and we don’t want that here we love making the Eagles fans cry.

The Dallas Stars limped into Wednesday’s optional practice with half the roster banged up and a four-game Canadian road trip looming.
Matt Duchene is traveling, tinted visor and all, hinting at progress but fueling even more mystery around his likely head injury.
Just when things couldn’t get more chaotic, Glen Gulutzan, Mikko Rantanen, Patrick Roy, and a wave-off at 0.1 seconds delivered peak NHL drama in one wild 24-hour stretch.

The Texas Rangers face eight arbitration decisions, but two notable names are on the brink of getting cut loose entirely.
The remaining six players could spark trades, tough tenders, or long-term roster ripple effects as the front office shapes its 2026 blueprint.
Plus, the shifting national TV landscape could redefine MLB revenue streams, and the Rangers’ future might look very different because of it.

This would happen.
