👋 Hello, friends!

Today is my final day with DLLS Sports, which means it’s my final newsletter with y’all, too. My time here has been a blast. I truly couldn’t be more appreciative of all the people I’ve worked with and all the people in the audience I’ve interacted with during my time here.'

Simply put: thank you, for everything. I hope this newsletter brought a little info or at least a chuckle or too.

DLLS will hire my replacement soon, I’d imagine. The great Bobby Karalla will do some newsletter work as well. So please continue to subscribe and support!

Cooper Flagg is a Dallas Maverick

Full disclosure. You see that headline above? The one that says “Cooper Flagg is a Dallas Maverick?” Well, that’s been there the whole time since we moved to our new newsletter vehicle. We have a template here that allows us to format things similarly each day, and some type of text needed to go in that spot as filler.

Today, I figured I’d keep that template text, because after one WILD year for the Dallas Mavericks, they at least now have Flagg to look to.

As our GM Ben did on our live show, pop some champagne, Mavs fans, because this is worth celebrating.

Cooper Flagg, as Nico Harrison said, is a generational talent. This is someone the Mavs shouldn’t have been able to draft, considering the talent they had. Would the Mavs have even been in the lottery if not for trading Luka?

But like a pair of Shady Rays glasses, the Cowboys lost one star and almost immediately got sent a new one (which Shady Rays will do for you, by the way, if you lose or damage one of theirs). And now the future is bright once again.

One more peak behind the curtain: before writing the newsletter each morning I’ll peruse all of our content at DLLS. That includes our YouTube shorts section. There are three headline videos about Flagg that I think make for an interesting and exciting combo.

The first is one about Flagg being “unflinchable” and ready for the moment. Another is Jason Kidd pointing out that Flagg doesn’t have immense pressure right away (key point there). With Kyrie Irving and Anthony Davis with him, Flagg can grow into being the face of the franchise right away. And the final headline that caught my eye: Jason Kidd saying that Flagg will one day help the Mavs win the title.

Maybe he will. For now, at least Mavs fans have hope for it.

Should the Dallas Stars actually pursue Mitch Marner? Rumor SZN!

One more thank you to everyone who has read this newsletter and watched me on the DLLS Cowboys podcast. I’ve been blown away by all of your support over my time here. When I was hired, they told us they wanted to build DLLS into a place where fans could laugh, cry, and smile in a community. In less than a year it’s become that.

My final request: don’t be a stranger. Reach out on social, email me, say hello if you see me at a Cowboys game — anything.

All the best, and as Jeff says on our show, you never know what someone is going through, so please be kind to everyone.

Subscribe and Listen on Podcasts

Be sure to subscribe to our shows wherever you listen to your podcasts. Traffic can be the worst, and one of the best ways I get through it is by listening to the audio versions of our DLLS shows. You should, too!
