👋 Good morning! Right off the top, I need to clear the air: I have no idea why yesterday’s newsletter was formatted like one of those pop-ups you see when trying to watch a game on your favorite pirate ship. Well, that’s kind of a lie: My boss was able to figure it out, so hopefully it doesn’t ever happen again. But if you are still subscribed to DLLS Sports Daily after reliving what it was like to be on MySpace in 2005, you’re a real one. — Bobby Karalla

A Very Cowboys Monday

Yesterday in Oxnard began with Brian Schottenheimer telling the assembled press about how he accidentally cursed during the team prayer. For a God-fearing man like Schotty, that’s quite the transgression. So severe, in fact, that he’s now “fired” himself from saying it anymore.
“Well, I went straight Ricky Bobby and I actually cursed,” he said. “I think I asked God to help us in the red zone. ‘Damn, we left some opportunities out there.’”
Faith, family, and football to start our Monday. How’s about what happened at night?
Many in the press, including our DLLS Cowboys crew, then hopped in a car and drove down the highway to LA for the big premiere of the Netflix ‘90s Cowboys documentary, a star-studded event about a star-studded team.
You know I don’t need to tell you this, but if there’s something big happening in Cowboysland, Clarence Hill is usually right in the middle of it. And Chill delivered last night.
He got the Jerry one-on-one. He got the Emmitt one-on-one. And he got the Playmaker one-on-one, too.
I’m all for sports documentaries, and I’m all for self-deprecating humor. That said, I feel like yesterday was the most Cowboys day of all-time. (Yesterday was an off-day at practice.) Make sure you tune into the DLLS Cowboys show today for more of their thoughts and reaction from yesterday, last night, and also even some of the football being played out there!

Yesterday, we decided to have some fun on the DLLS Mavs show and draft 8-man teams consisting only of players who are under 25. Humbly, I believe there’s little doubt who emerged from the draft process with the best squad. What do you think?

What a freaking win for the Rangers last night. They needed it. They need more of ‘em. But man, coming back from down 6-1, including 6-5 in the 9th, that’s the good stuff. Yesterday’s DLLS Rangers show aired before the game, but it’s possible the whole team watched.

Wanna learn more about new Stars forward Nathan Bastian? Sam Nestler’s got you covered here.

The Grizzlies should always play at home on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. I understand this is a business and ratings matter and all that, but I feel like that’s the one day a year where you should put other things ahead of the almighty dollar. Anyway, go Mavs!
