Dak Prescott and the undermanned Cowboys pass Jerry’s test

Jerry Jones strutted into MetLife Stadium with the confidence of a man who knew exactly what was coming.

His team was down seven starters, including four offensive linemen and CeeDee Lamb, and facing questions about his blockbuster decision to trade Micah Parsons days before the season.

But Jones didn’t flinch. He framed it as a roster “test,” a chance to prove his theory that depth and balance could trump star power. By the end of the day, the Cowboys didn’t just pass the test, they aced it.

The winless Jets were the perfect opponent for a Dallas team that desperately needed a get-right game. The defense, battered all season and sitting dead last in yards allowed, came alive with five sacks and a momentum-turning fumble late in the first half.

Two touchdowns in the final minute before halftime blew the game open and sent the Cowboys jogging into the locker room with swagger, up 23-3 and in full control. It wasn’t about style points. It was about sending a message that this roster still packs a punch, even without its biggest names.

And then there was Dak Prescott, the $60 million man playing like every penny was well spent. Behind a makeshift offensive line, he was sharp, calm, and commanding, tossing four touchdowns to lead a 416-yard offensive outburst.

Javonte Williams bulldozed through the Jets for 135 rushing yards, Ryan Flournoy broke out in Lamb’s absence, and young defenders flashed in expanded roles.

The afternoon ended with MVP chants echoing through MetLife.

Less than a week into the offseason, the Texas Rangers have their new skipper.

Skip Schumaker was officially hired Friday night on a four-year deal, swiftly stepping into the role after Bruce Bochy’s departure.

A former NL Manager of the Year and Rangers senior advisor, Schumaker was the clear favorite from the start, and the team didn’t waste any time making it official.

The Stars’ preseason curtain finally fell over the weekend, but not before one last roster battle took center stage.

Veterans like Alexander Petrovic appeared to have locked up key depth spots, while young guns Justin Hryckowian and Arttu Hyry made their final push to crack the opening-night lineup.

Add in some intriguing line shuffles, cap maneuvering, and even a new goalie mask for Jake Oettinger, there was plenty of spice in the preseason finale.

This is why people break their TV’s.
