Tonight, the Cooper Flagg era takes flight
After an exciting opening night on Tuesday evening, the Dallas Mavericks are set to take the court tonight from the American Airlines Center as they host the San Antonio Spurs at 8:30 PM.
Dallas is looking to reel back from a disappointing 39-43 finish last season and missed the playoffs for the first time since the 2022-23 season.
The biggest story line without a doubt, will be the debut of rookie sensation Cooper Flagg, who is likely set to start at point guard tonight.
“I think when we’re looking at him starting at the point guard, it’s probably more of a point forward situation,” head coach Jason Kidd said. “But since technically we gotta list someone at the point guard position, so I guess we’re listing him at the point guard position.”
Flagg, the No. 1 overall pick in June will look to make a quick and immediate impact for a team that will play its first full season in the post Luka Dončić era.
The Consensus first-team All-American from Duke averaged 11.3 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.3 steals, off 39.5% shooting from the field during the preseason.
Alongside one of the league’s best in Anthony Davis, as well as Dereck Lively II, Daniel Gafford, Klay Thompson, and others the Mavericks are aiming to flip the script this season, provided they can stay healthy, in what's shaping up to be a fiercely competitive Western Conference.
Be sure to tune in tonight for pre- and post-game with our DLLS Mavs crew as they get you ready and share their thoughts on the first of 82 games.

The Stars looked ready to turn a corner, until everything unraveled in the third. Tyler Seguin gave Dallas a spark, but missed chances and late breakdowns proved costly. Now, after a 5-1 loss to Columbus, the Stars are searching for answers on a night that started with promise and ended in frustration.

There’s no one blueprint for winning it all. The Rangers have tried to buy their way there, but the Toronto Blue Jays just proved there’s another route. Their unexpected World Series run might hold the secret Dallas has been missing.

Catch @Cooper_Flagg at the starting gate. We promise he won’t be there long.
