Stars silence Bell Centre with 7–0 beatdown of Canadiens

The Dallas Stars flipped the script in Montreal last night, getting outplayed early but still striking first, as Wyatt Johnston opened the scoring with his 100th career goal.

Jason Robertson continued his sudden eruption, scoring twice and looking every bit like a 50-goal threat again, while Tyler Seguin and Esa Lindell added goals of their own in a shockingly lopsided middle frame.

By the time the Stars went up 5–0, the Bell Centre was silent and Dallas was cruising.

What made the rout even more absurd was how it started: Montreal outshot Dallas 14–5, controlled possession, and hemmed the Stars in their own zone for long stretches, and yet never broke through thanks to Casey DeSmith’s early heroics.

Every Dallas chance felt lethal, every Montreal push fizzled, and the Stars’ high-end skill finally took over once Rantanen, Harley, and the top forwards began carving up the Habs’ defense.

Robertson’s confidence looked fully restored, and his backhand finish was the kind of goal scorers bury only when they’re heating up.

By the third period, it turned into a party, highlighted by Alex Petrovic’s first NHL goal in seven years, as Dallas coasted to a 7–0 blowout win that felt equal parts ridiculous and inevitable.

A game that started with the Stars doing “a lot of puck-watching” ended with the Canadiens standing around instead, watching Dallas torch them shift after shift.

If this is the version of the Stars that shows up regularly, the Central Division is officially on notice.

The Mavericks capped off one of the wildest 72-hour stretches in franchise history with a chaotic 123–114 loss to the Suns, their first game since firing GM Nico Harrison.

Dallas rallied from 18 down as the AAC crowd finally brought energy back to the building, but the late surge wasn’t enough to overcome injuries and a messy start to the post-Harrison era.

With players reacting to Harrison’s dismissal, Jason Kidd navigating his future influence, and fans reclaiming the atmosphere, the Mavs officially entered a new chapter, and the drama is only just beginning.

Brian Schottenheimer and several players, including Dak Prescott and Solomon Thomas, spoke for the first time about their beloved teammate Marshawn Kneeland, each delivering a powerful message or sharing a heartwarming story.

The GM Meetings wrapped in Las Vegas with the Rangers walking away knowing exactly what they need, a nearly finished coaching staff and a crystal-clear offseason checklist.

But with a murky budget ahead, Texas now faces the challenge of attacking its biggest roster holes with equal parts precision and confidence.

And with whispers that the Rangers might be going back to the future in how they build this team, the offseason just got a whole lot more intriguing.
