Stars stay road warriors: Bourque’s breakout night and Oettinger’s acrobatics lift Dallas

The Dallas Stars went full chaos mode in Vancouver, and somehow came out smiling. Mavrik Bourque called his shot before the game and delivered just 55 seconds in, banging home a net-front chance to set the tone in a matchup we all knew would get weird.

Jason Robertson stayed volcanic with his ninth goal in five games, and although Vancouver kept answering, Dallas never trailed. This one had early fireworks, momentum swings, and enough “what did I just watch?” moments to fill a month’s worth of highlight reels.

The story shifted in the second period to Jake Oettinger and a penalty kill that has struggled all year, and then suddenly looked like a top-five unit again.

Vancouver piled up four power plays in the first 25 minutes, including a 5-on-3, and the Stars still refused to break.

Oettinger erased a half-dozen grade-A chances, made a jaw-dropping scramble save that involved losing his stick, spinning across the crease, and robbing Conor Garland, and kept Dallas alive long enough for the offense to settle back in. It was the kind of stretch that changes games… and sometimes seasons.

Then came the third period.

Pure comedy and chaos. Robertson somehow missed an empty net, Oettinger made a scorpion save on Elias Pettersson, and Colin Blackwell ripped a bardown breakaway to put Dallas back on top before Mikko Rantanen ended things with a spinning, backhand, absurdity-level dagger.

When the dust finally settled, the Stars escaped with a 4-2 win, improved to 7-1-2 on the road, and reminded everyone that when it gets weird, they get dangerous.

Dak and the Cowboys are staring down a virtual must-win showdown after their razor-thin Week 1 loss to the Eagles.

Can Dallas flip the script in Week 12 and keep their playoff hopes breathing?
