👋 Good morning! - Dak Prescott kept it real when asked about Jerry Jones’ comments earlier this week. What did he say? Scroll through this newsletter to find out. - Ali Jawad

Stars earn a point, lose the win, and celebrate a milestone
The Dallas Stars pushed their point streak to five games but saw their three-game winning streak snapped in a 2-1 overtime loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning.
On a night that should’ve belonged to Tyler Seguin, playing in his 1,000th career NHL game, it was the Bolts who stole the spotlight behind Andrei Vasilevskiy’s sharp goaltending and Anthony Cirelli’s OT dagger.
Still, Adam Erne’s first goal as a Star and Jake Oettinger’s 30-save effort kept Dallas afloat against one of the league’s elite teams.
It was a night of milestones and grit, but also a reminder that even strong teams can get outplayed. Tampa controlled the pace through much of the game, forcing Oettinger into acrobatics while the Stars struggled to generate offense.
Dallas had its moments, including a 5-on-3 power play chance to take the lead, but couldn’t cash in before Cirelli ended it in overtime.
Still, this one’s about Seguin, the heart and soul who’s fought through surgeries, setbacks, and reinvention to reach 1,000 NHL games.
From flashy scorer to gritty net-front grinder, Seguin’s evolution mirrors the resilience of the franchise itself. He’ll get his silver stick in December, but his true reward came tonight: the respect of his teammates, the applause of fans across the league, and one more point in the standings to keep the Stars’ run alive.

Jerry Jones made headlines for the wrong reasons again, this time after joking to The Wall Street Journal that he’s “too busy making $100 billion in natural gas” to fix the Cowboys’ defense. 😬
Fans didn’t find it funny, especially with Dallas sitting at 3-4-1 and fielding one of the league’s worst defenses.
Dak Prescott understood the frustration but brushed it off, saying the team’s focus remains on bouncing back Monday night vs. Arizona.

Through one week of the 2025-26 NBA season, the Dallas Mavericks have been a mixed bag, flashes of brilliance from rookie Cooper Flagg, tempered by inconsistency and injuries to Anthony Davis and key rotation pieces.
Flagg’s energy and poise have been undeniable, averaging a near double-double while showing why he was so highly touted, but the Mavs’ offense has too often stalled when Davis exits the floor.
With a 2-3 start and a brutal stretch of games looming, the DLLS Mavs crew broke down what’s working, what’s not, and what has to change fast if Dallas wants to avoid another early-season hole.

What cant she do?
