👋 Good morning! Was that semi-cool weather I felt yesterday? I don’t wanna jinx it, but August is supposed to be insufferable. Yesterday, on the other hand, was beautiful. I’m gonna be honest: I just checked the 10-day and I don’t like what I’m seeing, but I do like yesterday. I liked it a lot. More of those, please! But here’s something to hold onto: The Cowboys have a game in a few days and the Rangers are now officially in a playoff race. Whether you’re hoot, cold, or just right, fall is right around the corner. — Bobby Karalla

Josh Jung Is A Hero

It wasn’t long ago that Josh Jung was sent to Triple-A to get his swing and his head right. Over a 37-game stretch from mid-may through June, he hit just .186 with a .478 OPS and one lone home run.
In his 10 games since rejoining the big league club, he’s already got 13 hits (nearly half he total he had during that entire 37-game megadrought) with a .382 average, 1.094 OPS, and three dingers. The latest was his greatest.
Jung clobbered one last night out to left to walk it off for the Rangers in the 10th inning, after Texas managed to tie it up in the ninth thanks to a timely homer by Joc Pederson. Wait… Joc Pederson? He hit one too??
Pederson has been in a slump since December. If he and Jung can both get it going, my what a lift that would give to a Rangers offense that has officially woken up, but can still get to another level. Texas made some bold moves at the deadline to acquire more pitching, but Jung and Pederson snapping out of their cold spells would almost be like two additional acquisitions.
The Rangers are still 1.5 games behind the Mariners for the third Wild Card spot, but thanks to last night’s win they’re also just 1.5 games behind the suddenly ice-cold Yankees, losers of four straight games. With more tough series on the horizon, every win matters a whole lot. We just saw firsthand how much damage the 1-3 series loss in Seattle did in the standings, for example. But if Texas can somehow manage to win the next couple against the Yankees, or even secure a split, things would get preeeeeetty interesting.

The Cowboys are set to take part in a joint practice today with the LA Rams, who they’ll also play in a preseason game this weekend. Matthew Stafford won’t participate, and neither will Micah Parsons, but Clarence Hill says there’s still plenty of matchups and themes to watch out for.

YouTuber, Locked on Mavs co-host, and general NBA personality influencer extraordinaire Slightly Biased joined the guys on the DLLS Mavs show yesterday in part to discuss his new video that dropped over the weekend: “The Craziest Season in History: A Full Timeline of the 2024-2025 Dallas Mavericks.” It’s very good. Give it a watch and then check out our interview with him!

Happy anniversary, Rangers fans! Hope you celebrated.
