Let’s Make A Difference Today!

Today is Big Brothers Big Sisters Day! We’ve been raising money all week for our Big and Little friends, but today is the day to SMASH RIGHT THROUGH our Spirit Week goal of $10K. Donate during your favorite DLLS show on YouTube or contribute directly at bbbs.org/allcity!

👋 Hello, friends!

And happy Friday! If you were as busy as Jim Nill was yesterday — or our DLLS Stars crew because of NIll — then you deserve a break.

Also, a quick thank you to everyone who helped contribute to Big Brothers, Big Sisters. We reached our $10,000 goal. We’re so appreciative of y’all for helping such an awesome organization. If you haven’t yet, please consider donating to a great cause! — Joseph Hoyt

Open Window, Closed Deal

The Stars are in a fascinating place right now. They’re coming off three straight trips to the conference final, signaling momentum and a proximity to a Stanley Cup that many teams wish they could have.

But, they’re also cash strapped and without a head coach. There hasn’t been much action on the latter, but the opposite could be said about the former.

Nill and the Stars went to work yesterday, locking up Matt Duchene to a four-year extension. They also traded Mason Marchment to Seattle for two draft picks.

The real prize, however? Some cap relief to help sign Duchene.

Duchene joined our DLLS Stars show yesterday to discuss the deal and why he wanted to stay long-term with the Stars.

His big reasoning: security in a place that’s securely in the championship hunt.

“We’re in our window right now … and this window could be long for this team,” Duchene told DLLS.

That had to feel good for Stars fans considering there are still some major questions about the team.

The core is unquestioned, however, and the future still has some bright spots. So even without a coach and with some moves to be made, there’s optimism on the horizon.
