Well, Cowboys fans, I’m sorry. I wish this week began on better terms. I also wish I had more comforting words. But last night was, to use Brian Schottenheimer’s words, humbling. We were all ready for kickoff, but pretty early on that performance brought us all back down to earth. That popcorn you threw into the microwave before the game? Yeah, that was actually four-day-old fish, and now your house stinks.
Are we in for another year of playing hope instead of defense? I sure hope not. This offense is too good, and so were the vibes. The Cowboys will need to bounce back and get this figured out quickly, because if you thought Cam Skattebo was a problem, Derrick Henry is waiting in Week 3. We were told Week 1 would be graduation day for Christian Parker’s defense. Perhaps this Sunday’s home opener against the Commanders will be instead, or maybe it will prove to be in-school suspension. Only time will tell.
